Call for Session Proposals | EAIGF 2026

The East Africa Internet Governance Forum (EAIGF) 2026 will be held in a hybrid format from September 23-24 in Bujumbura, Burundi. This event is a partnership between the East Africa Community (EAC) and other East Africa National IGFs.

This year’s theme is “Governing East Africa’s Digital Future in the Age of AI: Our Shared Responsibility.” This theme highlights the need for collective effort and a shared vision in digital governance while recognising the role of Artificial Intelligence in shaping this future. It emphasises multistakeholder cooperation to shape policies and standards that will allow East Africa to harness the benefits of the digital age while mitigating AI risks.

Call for Session Proposals

The EAIGF secretariat invites the community to submit session proposals for the 2026 program. Proposals should focus on the following thematic areas:

  • AI Regulation, Governance & Human Rights
  • Digital Inclusion & Equitable Access
  • Digital Economy & the Future of Work
  • Digital Trust, Safety & Resilience

The deadline for applications is August 31, 2026, EAT. Late submissions will not be accepted.
